Alagappa University Distance Education:  The online admission forms have already started in the July 2025 academic session for Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Diploma, and Certificate courses. Courses such as Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Master of Library and Information Science (MLibSc) and Master of Commerce (M.COM).

Alagappa University was primarily initiated during the 1950s by the Padma Bhushan Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar (6 April 1909- 5 April 1957). It is a state university. The university was established by an Act of the Tamil Nadu State Legislature in 1985, and later the university became affiliated in 2002. Alagappa University is located in Karaikudi, in the district of Ramanathapuram, in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Alagappa University Distance Education secured 30th position by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2023, was also recognized by UGC-DEB (Distance Education Bureau), and got approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and NAAC A+ Accreditation.

Alagappa University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria

Those candidates who want to pursue any program through distance mode at Alagappa University have to pass the basic eligibility criteria for applying for any program mentioned below:

For undergraduate courses: Candidates must have completed their 12th standard with an aggregate of 50% marks from a recognized board such as CBSE, ICSE, or any state board. The duration of undergraduate courses is 3 Years. Candidates of any stream can apply for undergraduate programs. Some courses may require specific subjects in science, such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

For postgraduate courses: Students must have cleared their graduation from a well-known university with a minimum aggregate of 50%-60% in graduation. Students must have their Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field in which they want to pursue their master’s. Specific courses may require entrance exams for students to pass, such as NEET PG, CUET PG, and any other exams.

For Diploma Program: Candidates must have 10+2 qualifications or have a bachelor’s degree in Business Management/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ IT stream can go for the diploma course at Alagappa University.

For the Certification program: Students can only enroll in this program who have cleared 12th standard in any stream from a reputed board. Graduates can also apply for certification programs that require work experience and specific skills or knowledge related to the given certification fields.
